In the middle of 2007 and I began looking at boats on the internet in the USA. Due to the rising exchange rate. The weakening local US economy and the sub prime mortgage crisis, our position was looking very strong. The process could be quite daunting without some knowledge from those who have gone before. Whilst searching I came upon IMPORT-A-BOAT and spoke to Ian via email. He reassured me that it was not all that hard and that they had the contacts in place to ensure a smooth transit.
So my boat searching began in ernest, and once I had decided on a make and model it was just a matter of agreeing on a price and then getting a survey done. From their John was able to put me in contact with a trailer manufacturer and the freight was organized. Within 8 weeks I had my boat here at the Brisbane wharf and after clearing customs I was on my way home to Townsville.
The whole process was quite easy and thanks to Ian and John at IMPORTABOAT I have got the boat of my dreams and saved many thousands of dollars in the process.
Would I do it again? Absolutely.

We particularly appreciated the updates from you so that we weren’t left guessing what was happening. Communication was so easy.
Thank you also for all the help you & John gave us once the ship arrived in Brisbane, including guiding us to Manly Boat Harbour in the storm. It would have been a nightmare without you.
Were we to import another boat, we would have no hesitation in hiring you again, and we would be only too happy to recommend you to anyone else considering doing the same.
